A summer stroll in Stockholm

Arriving to Stockholm, purchase an Access Card, which is a subway card that can be reloaded. At the moment, it’s 100 crowns for 4 trips.
In Stockholm, my friends Anna and Sylvain, who had left on vacation, left me their beautiful apartment, located close to Medborgarplatsen, a neighborhood which comes alive at night, the ideal place to go out and get away!
We went on a boat tour that we found at the tourism office . We chose the “Archipelago with a guide” tour, which takes 4 hours to complete, and which is narrated through microphone by a guide, in both English and Swedish. The boat goes all the way to Waxholm, where one can stop for a couple of hours if they so desire.

In the centre of Stockholm itself, there is an island, Djurgården, with a large amusement park which is called Gröna Lund. I’ve never had the opportunity to go, but each time I pass by it, I dream of going. The entrance fee is ten euros, and entrance to each separate attraction is paid using tickets.
On the same island as the Gröna Lund ,we find the museum of Vasa. The Vasa is the only 17th century ship to have been preserved anywhere in the world. A small historical fact is that the ship was deemed inefficient and only spent 20 minutes on the water on the day of its inauguration.

In the afternoon, don’t forget the Fika, the snack break which typically consists of coffee and a small pastry, such as a delicious Kannelbulle. I personally prefer chai latte to coffee!
At the entrance of the Djurgården, you can rent a bicycle for a ride on this beautiful island.

After a well-spent, busy day, we went out for drinks at Happy Bar, which is located on the waterfront, and offers an ephemeral terrace with comfortable seating, overpriced , but delicious cocktails, and a very lovely view.
In the evening, people gather in parks for barbecues, like the one in the Ralambshovsparken. We’ve discovered the One-Time Grill, a small aluminum plate which contains everything you might need to make a barbecue.

On Sylvain and Anna’s recommendation, we went to Hermans for dinner-a vegetarian open buffet, with a magnificent view of Stockholm. The food was great, even for non-vegetarians, and the view was definitely worth the detour!

The next night we went to Lasse I Parken in Hornstull, an open air restaurant/bar, which offers live music and wooden tables. A very relaxing place, in the city center.
